Chuan is a Sichuan fusion restaurant, consisting of three floors located in the heart of Chinatown in a Grade II listed townhouse. Inspired by the geographical features and cultural identity of Sichuan, this design presents the lifestyle of Chengdu through its comprehensive use of bamboo, silk wall paintings, shape, and texture, in every corner. The goal is to modernise the old restaurant to update Royal China’s brand identity. The design is epic as well as sentimental and comforting, striking a balance between welcome nostalgia and a longing for something new.
